Eight advantages of thermal spraying




There are many outstanding advantages of thermal spraying, the main merits as follows:

1.     The range for sprayed base material is quite wide, almost including all solid engineering material, such as metal and alloy, ceramic, cermet, IMC(intermetallic compound), nonmetallic mineral,  plastics and so on. So there are variety kinds of protective and functional coating can be made with it, including abrasion resistance coating, anti-corrosion coating, anti-interference coating, oxidation resistance coating, etc.

2.       Thermal spraying isn’t limited by workpiece size or worksite, it can spray coating large and heavy workpieces, it also can spray coating small workpieces; it can be done in the factory, it also can be done at the worksite,

3.       Highly deposition efficiency, it’s suitable for deposition thick film coating, especially. Comparing to electroplating, electroless plating, ion plating, vapor deposition and other technologies, thermal spray coating with higher deposition and production efficiency, and the thickness of coating can be controlled from tens of microns to several mm, even much thicker.

4.     Less thermal influence on base material when compared to thermal diffusion plating, vapor deposition, high-temperature synthesis, sintering and other process, generally, base material heated temperature is not more than 200, so the organization and property of the base material will not transform and no deformation.

5.     Coating composition modulating is easier. It’s easy to accomplish modulating the composition and property of coating by modulating the types, percentage and coating process of the coating material.

6.       Part surface strengthening and modification is easy with thermal spraying.

7.     Savings in precious materials. Under the condition of quality guaranteed, we can spray coating the surface with precious materials, base material as the main coating material.
